We fight global warming with and for the many people.
Global warming is accelerating and people everywhere are suffering the consequences. Reversing this trajectory will require drastic reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
To achieve this, we need to put people at the centre of climate action. This means reshaping the systems that support everyday life, from food and energy to housing, transport, and the protection of forests and land. In short, we need to create the conditions for people and nature to thrive together.

Helping to create change
We seek to create positive change that meets the scale of our climate challenges.
For us, positive change is change that meets the scale of our climate challenges, fulfils people’s aspirations for better lives, and lasts beyond the life of a grant. To achieve this, we fund partners around the world and support them to learn together for greater impact.
We help emerging economies grow and thrive without dependence on fossil fuels.
We support locally led land and food stewardship as a greater force in fighting global warming.
We help to reduce and avoid emissions from buildings and transport.
Where we work
In a rapidly changing world, the fight against global warming will be lost without a clear path for the sustainable growth of emerging and developing economies.
Towards a low-emission future
Very little philanthropic funding goes to climate action globally. And of that already insufficient investment in our future, only a small portion goes to emerging economies, despite the fact that populations and emissions are set to grow faster in these countries.
Supporting these places to chart low-emission development pathways is critical to reversing global warming. Choices made in emerging economies today will shape the future of our climate everywhere. That’s why we support partners in India, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda, and we are expanding our work in Brazil and Indonesia.
Emergency response
In addition to our climate mission, IKEA Foundation funds organisations that provide rapid support to people impacted by humanitarian crises.
How we help
We help to mitigate the impact of crises on the many people by: pre-positioning resources to mobilise emergency action quickly and early; funding pre-selected partners that are close to communities; and supporting innovation to deliver assistance more effectively.
