The Stichting IKEA Foundation is a Dutch charitable foundation, funded by the Stichting INGKA Foundation
To create a stable structure, and to preserve and protect IKEA as a company over time, the ownership of IKEA was put into foundations in 1982.
The Stichting IKEA Foundation (IKEA Foundation) is a Dutch charitable foundation, funded by the Stichting INGKA Foundation. The Stichting INGKA Foundation in The Netherlands owns INGKA Holding B.V., the parent company of the IKEA Group. The IKEA Foundation is headquartered in Leiden, The Netherlands.
In the early days, the IKEA Foundation focused solely on architecture and interior design. Over the years, IKEA became active in addressing the root causes of child labour as well as endeavors with major partners to promote child rights and education as part of the IKEA Social Initiative. In 2009, the IKEA Foundation was able to expand its charter to include a broader mission of improving the opportunities of families in the developing world – particularly children and women – to help them ultimately take control of their own future. Today, all global IKEA social and philanthropic efforts are found together under the umbrella of the IKEA Foundation.
POLICIES
• Concept notes are developed by the partners in close consultation with the Foundation’s administration. The Board decides whether the proposed programmes are within the Foundation charter and in line with our expectations for financial and operational efficiency as well as reflecting IKEA core values.
• A positive decision by the Board will require development of a detailed programme proposal, focused on creating a baseline, setting programme objectives and establishing key performance indicators that will be used to measure annual progress and ultimate programme achievement.
