The IKEA Foundation’s strategy is to work with strong strategic partners to achieve large scale results by addressing four fundamentals in children’s lives - a place to call home, a healthy start in life, a quality education and a sustainable family income – whilst applying innovative solutions to accelerate development.

We secure top experts and develop innovative approaches by partnering with well-established and well-regarded NGOs and IGOs who are able to navigate and influence government policy and help us achieve the critical mass it takes to make a major impact.

Making changes that endure requires a comprehensive approach – that’s why we support programmes that encompass the full circle of a child’s fundamental needs. To make a serious positive impact on a child’s life takes a long-term commitment to combat poverty and childhood disease, as well as provide better access to quality education.

So we fund programmes with the potential to produce big results from many small steps – a wide range of efforts to support basic necessities such as shelter, health and sanitation, education and protection, and empowering women so they can help contribute to family earnings – to help families improve the everyday life for themselves, their children, and their communities.
